Title: The Wonders of SUNYIT Project Description: To animate a character using Flash. This character needed to interact with the environment or another character. We needed to have a narrative introduction scene with a rotoscoped image of ourselves making use of lip syncing techniques.
Issues: Finding a topic of animation I could put many hours into. Creating a more realistic world. Creating more fluid and realistic looking stick figure movements. Lip syncing the narrative. Timing sound effects. Using too many shape tweens.
Solutions: I got motivated by making an animation showing some of the annoyances of campus living by having a stick figure explore them. I used only the tools available in Flash to create the interesting environment. I made use of gradients to add some depth to the world. I used many shape tweens to create most of the stick figure’s movements. I rotoscoped an image of my face to get the basic facial features correct. I used mouth and tongue positions to help the narrator match up with the narration.
Software/Skills: Macromedia Flash. Lip syncing. Creativity and patience.
